Its not a defect, its a "feature" of 4.2 ... they've reduce the power to the port from 100 ma to 20 ma. This is to stop people using things Apple dont like in the port (USB drives, keyboards etc), but its also stopped compatibility with half of the SD cards in the world.
There own camera connection kit is now fatally flawed under this update. Bad Apple.

To answer your question, I just upgraded from JB 4.3.1 to JB 4.3.2 without restoring. Just updated to stock 4.3.2 in iTunes, then ran redsn0w over it to jailbreak, then reinstalled all my JB packages.
Not sure if not going through a full restore will have any adverse affects, I certainly haven't noticed any yet though!
Oh okay, I'm gonna try it now with 4.3.3.

Oh, I got the core i7 started with bigadv it seems to be running at about 58 min/frame which would put it at 4.17 days.
something seems wrong with 58 min a frame. at stock 2.66 ghz i was getting 43 min a frame. you might want to look over it and see if you can find any issues going on

I still remember the day I got to bring one home for alerting the IT staff at my school to a security vulnerability on their only PC, allowing students to access faculty folders. Read up on basic programming. for instance:
10 PRINT "HELLO WORLD"
20 GOTO 10
I belive it's ctrl-c or :apple:-c to get it to stop.
As for games, try finding load runner or the original mario brothers. I still play load runner on the IIGS I keep around for gits and shiggles. Long live Mac OS 1.0. Fits on a single 3.5" floppy.

Hi guys,
I'm working on a Space Invaders testcase.
You know those barriers right? Where you can hide behind and shoot a hole through? That's what I want to achieve.
Is it possible to do a collisiondetection pixelwise? And make a series of pixels of that sprite transparent after collision?
I'm using Cocos2d by the way.
Cheers
I think I'll have to go with a custom MutableTexture2d for fast getting and setting of pixels:
http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/forum/topic/2449
My idea is:
- First do a pixel perfect collision detection using the pixelAt function
- If there's a collision do a 'sprite merge' with one sprite being an impact-radius sprite and of course the barrier sprite using setPixelAt.
Hope that's going to work out (performance).
Any other thoughts on the subject are very welcome.
Cheers

Isn't the iPhone 4 a 720i video?
I think it's actually 720p
Pretty much the only thing I can recommend (with knowledge) is the camera I own which is a Canon HF S200. I just checked Amazon.com and it list for $649.00. It shoots in full 1920x1080p resolution. It does record in AVCHD and you will have to transcode this if you want to edit it but it's pretty easy to do. The picture quality is awesome!! In low-light, the picture isnt the best but I always keep in mind that I didnt buy a pro camera. The thing that kills me the most is that people complain that consumer cameras "dont do this" and "dont do that" but what are you really expecting?!? Dont you think if consumer cameras could produce the picture that pro cameras can the big budget movies, tv broadcast, and any other professional quality video would be shot on them? Sorry, I had to get that out. . . back to the topic. IMO, this is a GREAT camera at at a decent price. There are accessories that you may need: SDHC memory cards, mic, and I highly recommend getting the wide angle lens (WD-H58) built for this camera but as always its your choice. If you want to see what this camera can produce, do a search on YouTube for "HiiDefinition" and look at the video that says "Film Look 24p". This guy really shows the potential this camera has. I'm not saying your video is going to look as good as his, that's dependent on your own creativity and imagination. Ummm, that pretty much sums up my recommendation. Good luck

I can agree with the OP. The other day at BestBuy they didn't have 4gb in stock but I managed to find one. Thinking I was the man by finding the last and hidden 4gb only to get to the register to have it rung up at $240. Turns out it was one of those bundles that came with three lego games. :(

That sounds scary... fortunately if you password is long enough it would take a lot to get it up to the last digit. Thats pretty strange though. I guess if I had a 1 letter password anything would work?
Hmmmm.... You probably should report this to apple!

They just need to have another Us Fest, seriously. For those that don't remember, in the early 80s (before Apple lost it's cool, while Jobs and Woz were still a team) they laid down sod over part of the desert, had air-conditioned tents, and threw a rock festival in part for their employees and the press. This was two decades before Apple got into digital music... they knew how to throw a party :)
edit: I'm not sure if it was Apple or Wozniac that officially sponsored it, so don't flame me.

Well my quad core i7 MPB turned up this morning, so the first thing had to be to see how well it folds!
It's just the stock 2.0 GHz 15" version, but initial indications are good.
It downloaded a 6701 WU, which do tend to be slower than the others, so I'll update these figures once its done a few different units.
TPF: 11 min 46 s
PPD: 6184
CPU temp: 85 C
Fan speed: 4667 rpm (both)
Power draw: 58-59 W (screen off, 62-63 W with screen on)
For comparison, my 2.4 C2D iMac does about 1400 ppd using 75 W, but at a much cooler 54 C.
Feel free to add your own Sandy Bridge numbers for comparison.
Keep folding!
Rob

Hi there ! I'm close on switchin' to mac, just waiting for mac mini refresh, meantime reading for macusers feedback. As i see, there is no normal audioplayer if you don't wanna use Itunes, and some issues with video files, such as mkv containers and others, flash content problems... People are forced to use unfinished enthusiast-made soft, which of course crashes and so on. I didn't hear that from mac users earlier! All they says - Mac is just work perfect in contrast with Windows PC. May be those comments about troubles are overblown !? Please, someone, tell me truth! i'm REALY still want to buy mac, but now started to doubt. i've got so limited budget, and don't want to miss.
Sorry for my language, hope expressed clearly :(
Very simple mac is great for music if you have a lot of cds and rip them with apple lossless to iTunes.

Hi,
Yeah, the credit is the points - in this case 481 points.
However, these WU (and all the other SMP core_A3 and core_A5 ones) also qualify for Quick Return Bonus Points.
Basically, there is a sliding scale that rewards quick return with more points. This is done to encourage people to just run one client quickly, rather than multiple ones more slowly.
However, to qualify for these bonus points (that are often worth 10 times the base points), you'll need a passkey - see here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1073565
You can calculate how many points you expect to receive here:
http://linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php
Hope that helps

Shot a wedding Saturday and dumped the photos into A3. Everything is ok.
Started processing and all of a sudden the computer locks up. Totally freezes. Beach-balling mouse can move around, but that is it. Had to force restart my computer. All of the thumbnail previews are gone! Computer starts "processing" in the background and slowly rebuilding thumbnails at the rate of about 1 every 2 minutes.
This is unacceptable for culling, as it would take me over 2000 minutes at that rate! I started randomly clicking photos without the thumbnails and doing some editing once the preview generated. I do this for about 2 hours, planning on letting the computer think throughout the night. A3 crashes my computer AGAIN! Restart, all the thumbnails and previews are GONE, AGAIN!
Enough is enough I figure, and I download the Lightroom 3 trial.
Sure, it is super-wacky looking and confusing to use compared to A3, but it has not crashed or even beachballed ONCE after working on it all day. A3 normally needs restarted a few times a session.
Initial things I have noticed where L3 has the edge over A3:
Lens correction. I am an UWA junky, especially during the reception on the dancefloor. Being able to apply a preset correction to all my UWA shots is a godsend.
NOISE! I did some side by side comparisons of the noise removal tools, and L3 blows it out of the water. ESPECIALLY in darker OOF areas.
Consistency. L3 "just works" as far as I can tell.
I hate having my raw files constrained in a "Library" file in A3. Love the desktop hierarchy system in L3.
Now some things I like in A3 over L3
Importing time. Took forever in L3 compared to A3
Far more intuitive layout. Every aspect of it.
So far I think I like the sharpening in A3 a bit more too.
Anyways, just wanted to share this bit of info, as I have spent more than my fair share of time bitching about A3s lackluster performance (In my experiences).
Hopefully editing this gig will go smoothly enough to convince me to buy the full version and keep A3 around only for my old files. I have no desire to move everything over, but rather start using L3 over A3.

GeOW is miserable for me single player...can't rely on computer intelligence and love having a friend to coordinate with. Some games I buy specifically for gameplay for me (obviously DS titles, etc). Some games I buy specifically because of coop with friends...like Fifa, Winning 11, etc. Rainbow 6 Vegas I bought just for live and to play with some friends back in the states...so it really just boils down to the game.
That said sometimes the coop can be an amazing value I wouldn't have thought of at first. Take GeOW...thought I'd be playing that by myself...turns out it's great for two. I love the added coop fun on Kameo..wouldn't have thought it'd be that way. Also Crackdown is a blast with coop, but wish it allowed two player in the house as well....

Also, keep in mind that many people report the VGA output as looking "washed out." I know that I did have that problem when I was using the official VGA cable, so I switched back to component.
I would suggest springing for the elite.
