Yes but i want it to work so bad  There has to be someway to make it work and my digital camera has an mpeg record function.

Help i paid $300 bucks for this camrea i doont want to have to spend on isight

You might also try the free osx usb webcam driver. There is a list of supported cams hereclick here (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/)

Hope this helps. Worse comes to worse, you can probably get into a cheap usb cam for about 20-30 $$.

For most things, I don't have a favourite.

    Apple (for laptops only)

Uniqlo if I'm in Asia, and only for things like underpants. :p

Nikon, but only because every SLR user is stuck with one brand anyway.

Otherwise, I get the best/aesthetically pleasing thing I can reasonably afford.

Somewhere in 2009/2010, I can't really remember now I bought the 21inch iMac. It was working perfectly fine up until January 2011 where it started lagging, it became very slow and eventually it kept freezing...

It is now completely unworkable, it originally has the Mac OSX Leopard system and I cannot at all use it. When it is powered on it stays on the apple screen for like 10+/- minutes. After a while the background shows up but nothing on screen and it sits there frozen. When the power button is pressed once, the screen turns off, when the power button is pressed again, screen comes back on with everything already loaded, you can see the dock, and startup programs but everything is completely frozen, I can move the mouse but apart from that it's all dead (even the keyboard). After like 10/20 +- minutes it unfreezes and the computer is usable... the problem is that it keeps freezing every now and then...

While it unfroze, I managed to use a tool called Yasu to clean it up, I also checked the hard drive (1TB one) and everything was said to be in normal conditon.

Rebooted the mac, and the same thing happens all over again...

I tried running the install disc that originally came with the iMac but it does not want to boot. I tried booting in safe mode, it takes ages to boot up and when it does, it freezes on the login screen. I used the applications CD where you have to hold D, this booted up, I checked the system and everything was completely fine.

I then tried booting up (holding C) from a Windows Live CD, and it booted up perfectly fine, did a disk check, all was stated as working.

I then tried booting from the install disc and it just won't boot. It freezes up and I have to wait like 10 to 20 minutes to take out the CD because it won't come out.

Before I take it to Apple (#!$"# piece of crap) I would like to see if there's anything else I can do?

Since other CD's are booting up perfectly fine, I was thinking of installing Ubuntu Linux and maybe then trying to reinstall Mac OSX using the original CD?

Any help? Please!!!!!!!!!!!! and thank you in advance.

If you have dreamweaver, you can try using their library functions. It allows you linked any tables, texts, layers to a library item so when you update that library item, every page that uses that item gets updated. Same goes for their template.

Just thought I'd post this. Not only are the Lyson inks better but their CIS system can cut 90% off the ink costs.

I could sure use something like that for my Canon i9900. :p

I checked their link and they don't show it. :(

But I bet the Epson crowd will love it. :D

    1. Go here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

    2. Scroll down until you see "iPhone / iPod touch / iPad"

    3. Click the drop down menu and look for "iPod Touch __G 3.1.2 7D11" *

    4. Download the file and save it somewhere you remember

    5. Open iTunes and plug in your iPod Touch normally.

    6. Go into the iPod summary page and look for the "Restore button"

    7. While holding the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard, click the "Restore" button

    8. A window will pop up asking to locate the .ipa (The file you downloaded)

    9. Select it and open it. It will now downgrade.

    10. Congrats you are now on the faster 3.1.2!

*Fill the blank with the generation number.

If you have a flat back, then it's the first generation (1G)
If you have a curved back, and MB model number, it's the second generation (2G)
If you have a curved back and MC model number, it's the third generation (3G)

All 3.1.2 firmwares will be 7D11.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey all,

So I'm getting a second computer for my theatre, only for playback purposes (using Qlab and sound files) and I'm having a bit of a conundrum!

On Craigslist, I can find some local 17" iMac G4's for $150 (800mhz, 512mb RAM, airport card, mouse and keyboard, running 10.4 Tiger) or on Macofalltrades.com, there's a Powermac G5 1.8GHz, 2.0gb RAM running 10.5 Leopard, with mouse, keyboard and older 20" Apple Cinema Display for $350.

I'm debating because I don't need TOO much for this second computer, as its purpose is relatively narrow. I just can't figure out if I should get the bigger, better computer for more monies or just save my cash.

It should be noted that the CL iMac has a few install CDs, none are included for the Powermac.

My first Mac is my current laptop, a 15" uMBP, so I don't have any experience with PPC Macs... What would you do? Thanks!

Well it sounds like you already decided on the Nano. You can't go wrong with it, as long you don't plan on expanding your music library anytime soon.

Have fun, Warhay. Among Apple stores in Southern California, it's one of the best places to hang out or wait in line, at least in daytime or evening hours. I've been to a few Apple events there and it was always lively. Probably not as lively at 4am. If you'll be online, let us know what the line is like when you get there.

Maybe I'm getting old, but there doesn't seem to be any right now. :( All of the games I find interesting are being funneled/gimped to the 360, or the promising ones have been blah in general. The only game that my PC buddies got into, which I didn't for obvious reasons, was WoW, which of course is cross platform. Now that's all some of them play.

I haven't bought a PC game for a few years now. My PC Tower(s) are only on for a little bit of work these days.

What type of games do you like, I can ask my friends if they've found anything good at the moment, or if WoW is still consuming their lives? I've been gaming on PCs since the eighties and prior to this drout used ot game all of the time, mostly online and via LAN parties. And MS thinks we'll pay for services that are still free...

This is the only game (http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/) I'm even remotely interested in playing. But I'm not hold my breath, since System Shock 2 and other games that uses a similar approach to the first one, kind of blew chuncks in comparison.

    Hi,
I have an ftp upload problem. Ive had it ever since I bought my first mac, a powerbook, a year ago. I first trying using several free ftp programs (+ Transmit), but everytime i would upload a file to a folder it would just freeze immediately. so i went and bought Cute FTP Mac cause the demo rid this problem, but not entirely. It freezes immediately, but when I close connection and connect again, everything works. So now i have gotten into the habit of 'uploading, it freezing, me closing and re-opening the connection', and then it working. This is a really long and annoying way to go about things. Anybody have a clue as to what is going on?

...No! No warranty, no guarantee of condition.

    They are 30 pin SIMMs

Data Memory Systems (http://www.datamem.com/viewcat.asp_Q_C_E_919) has the 16 Mb SIMMs for $15 each

You have to install them 4 at a time.

I feel some vibration on the table where my imac is.
When i lift the imac, the vibration disapears. also the huummmm sound disapears.
I think it isn't a normal behavior. If you can easily change for another imac, go for it.
I didn't change mine because this was the 3rd imac, due yellow tint

I agree completely. Enjoy your new Birthday gift.

No one but Apple knows a date, what SB will or won't bring or anything at this point.

To many uncertainties ... now the speed is good, so is the heat and fan noise ... best we've ever seen on the Airs.

    Have fun.

The iPhone 4 was a failure at launch. The antenna is broken. It drops Internet connections and calls if held a certain. The glass claiming to be strong is weak sauce and the only good things on the phone are the cameras and screen.*
Am I the only one who feels this way?

The iPhone is still an amazingly awesome phone, so what for a tiny little issue.

    rburns:

Don't worry about Apple techies insisting that the new one is better... the fact is that no test has shown with any authority which is better.

I also suspect that a lot of die-hard Macheads are currently in the process of brainwashing themselves to worship the DDR PM's in order to maintain the "Apple rocks" world view.

I say that the DDR PM's are OK but not very exciting. Performance is not the primary advantage of the new PM's; I'd say it's mostly RAM and disk capacity.
