Krishna we are focussed on the main goal, Unfortunately we have yet to see any headway and may not see any this year either coz of the million other problems. Hence my suggestion of alternate strategies. Like I said, just a suggestion.

First of all I commend your and everyone in putting their effort. I totally agree with you that we need more people and money. I think people are first to come and money will automatically follow.
While word-of-mouth is effective we can augment this to get attention using other means:
1. We can persuade news portals to advertise for our cause in a corner that might help us to get more people. Most Indians I know read Indian news everyday. If we can convince e.g., eenadu.net a telugu newspaper, to run ads we can get attention of lot people.
2. Please start selling the current acheivements that are not confidential. Like you might have been successful in persuading a high profile senator about this problem. Put his quotes on our site and also possible grab attention from bloggers.
3. If we can also tap academia who support skilled immigration that would help us. Let us put there studies in our reference section (I am assuming we didn't do this yet). This
makes senator to reference our site and make their lives easy.
4. Please do not discount freewill members who do not have a GC problem but savor
helping others with immigration problem. It could be Americans or Immigrants we'll get them all in.
I think these actions will help us grow our strength. I know it is easy said than done. I will send a mail to rediff and eenadu to put our banner on their frontpage. If anyone has contacts working for these website. That will make it whole lot easier.

Your involvement is more important... you can generate a lot of contribution by spreading the good word & encouraging people to contribute..
I have not contributed much as comapred to top guys but I have generated atleast $600 through my efforts to rope in new guys & requested them to put in some money. Some did but some did not

We need to judiciously utilize the momentum we have gained and achieve our goals....for we have spent a lot of time, effort and sacrificed a lot to reach where we are right now...You guys have our support and continue the good work...as the path ahead is not going to be any easy

This is an excellent idea. For those who have already registered on change.gov know how effectively the president-elect is using this website. I get regular updates on whats happening with their healthcare initiative and they also regularly ask for people's opinion on different issues.

Dont lose hope and dont lose sleep over it. I know it's easy to say...but just hang in there. Everything will be ok. As someone suggested, all you will be losing is at most 10K. Even that, you can transfer to some where else and should not be paying a cent. Why go now itself? Let's suppose that the judgement is not in your favour, may be , after a couple of years. Then you can quit your job and say you are leaving. I dont think they can stop you at that time. And I dont think they can make you work either, if you decided not to take up a job. Then file banktrupcy and go back to your country. Relax for a couple of years and then come back.
So, all i would suggest is stay calm and let the trial take it's course.
If you do not want to go through all this stress then as someone suggested , try for an out of court settlement. Tell them all you have is about 2K( take off all the money before that). Then they will know what your position is and might settle for that. Better take an attorney so that this is settled for once and all.
It's possible that the target might not even be you. There might be some millionaire in one of the other cars.

I believe that there is a great flaw in the way the USCIS allocates VISA NUMBERS among EB1, EB2 and EB3 which is very much evident and if we can stand united we can get something done.
After carefully observing the trend in VISA approval and VISA bulletins, It is a reality that EB3-I is not moving and at the same time EB2 and EB1 are moving fast in relative terms and probably may even become current ( EB1 is already current ), But one thing USCIS is clearly not considering is the Priority Date, which basically means that they are not giving a damn thing about how long the person from EB3-I is waiting for. Here is my suggestion and some of the IV representatives need to analyse what Iam gonna say and see if they can stand up. Being an EB3-I india myself, i totally agree that EB1 and EB2 should be given a weightage and some preference over EB3, but I dont agree to what USCIS is currently following, EB2 With priority 2006 getting ahead of EB3-I with priority date 2001. This is ridiculous and to even think about it, it just sounds stupid. What they can do is , They can move the Dates in both Categories while giving preference to EB1 and EB2 first.
Please dont jump up & down before i complete. Iam just giving you an example of how things should work and how they can move dates forward for all 3 categories while maintaining that EB1 and EB2 gets preference over EB3. Let us ignore Eb1, since it is already current. Now Coming to Eb2, the priority Date is 2004 for them.Ideally speaking, They should not move them ahead until atleast EB3 reaches 2004. But once Both EB2 and EB3 reaches the priority date of 2004, Obviously EB2 gets the preference over Eb3 and EB2 will start to move ahead but not by much, let us say 1 year. Now, Clearly, EB2 is still given the extra preference over EB3 but at the same time, we are maintaining the priority dates between EB2 and EB3 as close as possible so that the system is not totally unfair to EB3 filers. I think, as one of the un-biased Organisation we should stand up against this unfair treatment in general. I hope even EB-2 will understand what iam trying to say.

I am already financially/emotionally drained out due to my accident. I guess its going to be deja-vu for me again.
Now I have hardly any money in my bank accounts(around 14K to be precise), and no house , which seems to be a good news and they cannot rip off much.
Only questions I have now are:
1. Any idea generally how long these things can go on?
2. During the trial will there be any restrictions on leaving the country (In genuine emergency situations)?
3. In the worst case if I am willing to give-up my GC..would it still make sense for us(my spouse and 2 kids) to go thru all this emotional stress all over again by staying here and thinkign about what will happen tomorrow...?
If you have only 14k then that is all that they can claim from you. In extreme cases they can consider put a lien against your future pay (for eg: 50% of future pay going to pay for the damages).
But don't worry so much!!! Why you will ask? here are the reasons.
Firstly, it matter who is suing you. Are the lawyers representing the insurance companies of the victims or are the lawyer retained by the victims directly.
If the lawyers are retained by the victims directly, the victim has to pay the lawyer to fight this case. The lawyer will only fight if there is way they can get you to pay the fees. The fees for such a lawsuit will far exceed 14K!!! So what you might want to do is request a lawyer to write a letter on your behalf to the lawyers of the victims and request them to settle out of court. for may 10K or else threaten that you will leave the country and they will recieve nothing!!. Ofcourse you don't have to leave the country you are using this as a barganing chip. Move the 14k to india in your parents or sibling's name. that way when they do an asset check nothing shows up.
From your posts you are sounding very stressed!! don't be relax you don't have to give up your GC. You have get a lawyer to help you out and pre-empt this before it goes to trial. Even after it goes to trial get a lawyer and fight for this (provided it does not cost you more than 14K). If you or your wife or kids are in university, most universities have laywers who will give free advice to students. You can also choose to pay between $100-$500 for consulation with other lawyers (remember the lawyers you are going to consult also want to make money so they will push you to retain them and some of them will scare you with the most unlikely scenarios.
