The visa recapture HR5582, eliminate country ceiling HR 5921, separate visa numbers for US STEM graduates HR 6039 are going to provide lot of additional visas to push everyone forward including fixing problems that are more severe for China, India and other traditional retro countries. You are hitting the right buttons here! You can say it is either laziness or fright/jitters or the comfort of current H1B approval/stamp that is making the large populace to sit tight.
Guess what, once some of the battles are won (we can never win all - they will always be ongoing), we should either knight pappu or induct him to "IV Hall of Fame".

I just want IV to be remembered for getting rid of retrogression and solving the GC problems that plague hundreds of thousands of high skilled immigrants. each and every member of IV is important in order to achive this. one member or even the entire core cannot do it alone if there is no support and efforts from IV members. IV members are more important than one member in this struggle.

There is not much we can do. From Greg's yesterday's latest response that there were very few which were returned/rejected on July 2nd itself and this thread proves that we are not alone ...there are so many and status is unknown. Matthew Oh is also suggesting that it will be receipted. I think we are all safe and with time we will get receipt. Nobody...none of the attorney's are suggesting refiling. Now the thought that whether my packet was properly filed or not? I think that will always be there in the back of one's mind but if the attorney has done his/her job correctly I think we should not worry. Its not rocket science and documents required for filing are well known...so I would discount this risk. It appears we are all safe because as we all know that no rejection notices have been generated, packets if returned should have come back by now as per Greg....All in all it all points towards our packets being on hold there at respective centers....but as you rightly pointed out..towards the last week of July keep calling centers to know..but even before that keep eye on check clearing as that by far is the best and earliest clue that all is well with the case.

Agree totally. If you look at the history there has been opposition to immigration. They said bad things about Italians, Irish and others. Some of the haters are once hated. But the life goes on !!!!
I am a highly skilled professional working in this state providing a valuable service. I have a green card petition pending. Those like Lou Dobbs oppose migration of those of my kind, virtually any kind. Please tell me why? What do I tell my grateful patients, about this self acclaimed patriot?
His is an agenda against all immigration. He just finds the most convenient arguments now against illegal immigration. Let me explain, I am on H1b visa, he criticizes that as well. My conclusion is he wants me to leave too. Ask him to name one kind of immigration he is for.

I agree with you immi...I would love to have that but i believe its not practical...coz as per existing laws there are 140k employement visas alloted per year...if you are gonna use uncaptured visas from the previous years then this number would be >140k.. which would require a change in the law...with the current govt in power (inspite of the President being pro immigration),Iraq war,elections,Anti immigration sentiments before elections,etc..i donot foresee it happeneing anytime soon... my $0.02

Read again. I did not call the consultants sleazy. Also, I did not generalize them. My support is followed in the second line.
Everybody fights to survive here and they are taking a risk at their own cost hence they are benefitting.
To me, this statement does not really deliver anything substantial or meaningful. Can you please reiterate?

leave my indian employer soon. they are saying they have 90 days notice period.... which was set from india. I work in ohio which has "employment at will" law... I am not going to serve the full notice period..... but if they deduct any money..... I am going fight like hell.... planning to complain to DOL and state govt office......I will keep updated on what happens....

Hi I've been a NC victim for almost 3 years. I have heard all kinds of speculations on the real reason behind USCIS/FBI decision,like the amount of the tax you pay, your political view, your education level,etc. all influence the result. Could that be true or it's just purely a bureaucratic backlog? Something interesting to think about I guess.

There is vast difference between US and Indian housing market crash. India RE market will not collapse like here. There may be a melt down or small correction. The simple big reason is demand for housing in middle class due to economic growth. Based on population density, US is 9 times bigger than India. Lot of land in US. But housing land is so limited in India. So there is always demand. Second reason, there is no sub-prime lending in India. Third, in India, housing loan is based on cash worthiness rather than credit worthyness like in US. So we may not see such a massive foreclosure/bankrupcy in India to bring the price down considerably like in US.
However, now the prices or extremly high, such that it can not be affordabe to people other than NRI or IT folks. 1 crore houses are very common now. Based on US economy it will definitly come down. It will be depend on how hard IT/outsourcing bussiness gets affectd in future.
