You mean EAD, not AP, right? AP can be used in conjunction with EAD.
Also, you can file for both EAD and AP and not use it. Just having the two will not force you to have 1 year extenstions. You can still get 3 year extensions if you don't use EAD and AP.

Can we take the following decision. (this question is for the regular members who reply to peoples queries)
Questions that ask for any help or suggestion will be answered only if the persons signature mentions that they have contributed.
People who dont want to contribute can go to elsewhere and ask questions
It is not fair to expect a member to contribute the moment (s)he joins. It takes some time to understand the impact of GC problems and get a good feeling about IV activities. IV can not post its activities on forums. You will be surprised to know that anti-immigration organizations are well organized.
However, we have numerous members with 50+ posts and 3+ month of membership with no intension to contribute $20 (you will not get 2 Indian Buffet's in Washington DC for $20; it takes $4 (metro up) + $4 (metro down) + $4 (parking) everyday to DC).
I (and other members) have literally begged some of these members. One particular member says (s)he is going back to his/her country but starts posting obnoxious messages after a few weeks.

We have just been told by reliable sources that the bill is being sent back to the Senate Judiciary committee where Frist and Specter will rework the language of the bill, starting April 24th.
All reasonable amendments will be worked into the bill text itself. Our amendments have a lot of support and the intent is to include them into the text of the bill.
So we need contributions going forward to get our requirements into the base text, and to protect them in conference with the House.

I would say the activity in state chapter participation is '5%' at best in contributing members. By that token, you can ignore the non-contributing members. I see thousands of messages in retrogression and like forums while I see hardly dozens of messages in state chapters forums.
Take the example of state Texas, it has one of the largest pool of House Reps in congress and folks impacted by retrogression in this state is very high. Most of these House Reps are anti-immigrant. I am not sure if it is for both legal and illegal. In TX, there is no state chapter activity for the last 4 months. I called for a meeting, not one responded. I think IV core should come up with a specific schedule for each of the state chapter meetings and also core team should assign a contact for each of the state chapters. Core team should also participate in these meetings to provide a directed leadership. If need be, induct more members into core team..

Yes, our success has created these issues for us. We are sincere, talented, educated, skilled and experienced. In my view, three things perpetuate this:
- this republican regime, the way its runs government (hence throw the bums out)
- lack of interest in our issues by our predecessors who have GC in their hand, our community leaders

Below is the text for Waivers.. My understanding is that if end Client gives a letter to DOL stating that they don't layoffs due to this H1B and it is a temp. labor requirement etc.. It is still harsh considering anti-immigration climate.. What is feared asked in a Visa interview will be asked by DOL for extensions. So, H1B can't be on an auto-pilot mode..

Just curious. Why do you claim ROW is receiving preferential treatment over India when all the countries get the same upper limit of the visas. Now if the Indians ask for more visas just because there are more Indians asking for green cards, wouldn't that be preferential treatment? :)
Why do think that "India" is the name of 1 human being that everyone from India should be treat like 1 person. Each person applies for his/her I-485, even each member of a family is considered separate. So why club one group of people based on a dichotomy that works best in your favor and then argue that there should be no change. Why not apply color of skin to decide the limits, or maybe the language. Because frankly, which country I come from has nothing to do with why I am here, just as the color of my skin or my native language has no relevance to my petition. In any system if you club large group of applicants based on a dichotomy, and say you will get lesser share than the rest, isn't that how you describe preferential treatment ? Is there any other way to describe the current country-quota system? Why not say Tamil SriLankans will autonomously govern 86% of the land and rest of people in Sri Lanka should migrate to the remaining 14%. Is that how it works there? Probably not, then why argue for something which is actually nothing but preferential treatment. That's ok, in olden days, when racial discrimination was legal, people who benefited from it argued in favor of it, just as you are doing in favor of per-country limits. My H1b (Revalidation for 7th yr) was on Dec 13th 1:45PM...Still hasnt receive my passport...Called the consulate ...they mentioned PIMS check is needed in order to stamp the passport...My travel date is Jan 9th..and I am also getting anxious...When asked about how long I will have to wait..they said to call back on Jan 5th (!!!????)...
Consulate apparently was on vacation from Dec 21st thru 26th..in US also until 2nd is pretty much 'holiday season' (lot of folks on vacation) (I hear this PIMS check is done by some system in Okalahoma)..
I hope I wont have to postpone my tickets...Looks like this system got kicked in Late Nov,Dec (Per Murthy)..May be we are the gini pigs..
I echoed my concern to the US consulate that delays will cause significant financial loss (extra vacation days, loss of pay, travel plan changes etc)...I dont think they are bothered..but it will be good if who ever is affected can send emails/call consulate and echo these concerns..('May be' all of us together will have a bigger voice)
