Under the list of DOs, once you have GC,
Shouldn't every male 18-26 yrs old with GC needs to register with Special Service (SSR)? isn't that the law? Can anyone shed light on this?

I posted this in a different thread. But Posting it again to get some thoughts from the people who already went through the stamping experiece...
Good luck to everyone. Hope you get your passports soon.
It looks like not ALL applicants are having a delay in receiving their passport after Visa stamping.
I know couple of my friends received their passport the next day.
(H1 extension - stamping in Chennai)
But I understand from the forum that many people are experiencing delays.
Any thoughts on what kind of applicants are experiencing delays ?
(or) in other words.... What kind of approval information (H1/L1) are delayed in getting into the PIMS system
Example: People renewing the H1-Visa in passport after 1 year of expiry (or)
Time between the H1 approval (in US) and the actual Stamping date in India is less than 1 or 2 months ?
Sorry if the questions are weired. I am trying to see if there is a trend/logic we can identify with these delays. This might help people who are planning to go for stamping in India.
I am planning to go to India in March. I am certainly worried on the delays. I need to take a decision to go for stamping or use AP.
Thanks

I suggest that you remove the glass house proverb. It makes the letter look a little unprofessional. Your letter without it is already very effective. Also put the "H1-B workers are illegal" quote (if there was such statement made on his show) at the top while you put across your objection. If such statement wasn't made but implied by the guest on CNN, don't put that in quotes.

@snathan oh no he never got me any interviews , he was basking away in the sun with his wife on the hammock with him, these were all my efforts of trying to find a job somewhere by posting on job sites, calling up companies, using my friend's reference, but i realize that even doing that companies here follow a longer process or some no process to actually keep the candiate informed about the status. This was way different in my home country.
anyways yeah i know atleast 5 guys who have all been thru this company who have all flown in on their own and who did not blow the whistle.

@vj i would surely unmask him here , gimme another 10-15 days i will reveal everything about him pal , dont worry.
@bugsbunny i paid about $4200 for the process , he said some attorney fees and stuff
Does someone have an experience of application process, so that i send in the right papers, before leaving here. i mean the set of documents to send to DOL, so that i do not miss out on something important which could nail him to the maximum
I suggest to focus on getting a job and you can nail him any time later.

They have all gathered, and probably some media is there, I bet that Logiclife - Franklin - Etc. are updating the core team about the events, if anybody is having any conversation with anyone at the rally please post the number of people, media, etc, thanks
Just got back from the rally, i would say it was a big success. Media coverage on the issue was fantastic. I saw the ABC7 news truck. There were many reporters from SJ Mercury news, SF Chronicle etc. Crowd was good, dont want to speculate on numbers yet but we should have an official word soon.
Police were very friendly. The crowd was very enthusiastic and also obeyed the rules. All of us stayed on side walks. Logiclife and Frankilin among others were there. Many reporters spread out and spoke to people.
Lot of members from another groups called Immigration Rights also joined us.
We got lot of honks. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Great JOB IV and everyone.

Guys,
Don't make me scream. I am about to file my I-140 next week. And your posts are making me very nervous.
Please tell me there is reason you got this kind of RFE?

Logiclife made a good point "immigration right" but I dont know how this thread got morphed into marrying local and what not.
The point is your whole attitude is wrong. First lets get one point straight. We are doing this country no favour by working here nor is this country doing us any favour by letting us work here. Its a mutually benefecial scenario. Since we are contributing to this society and following all there rules we are asking for immigration rights.
To ask for something, you must first believe that you deserve it. The illegal aliens belive in there cause (even thought they broke the law) that is one of the reasons everyone talks about there cause including the senators, president and the media.
People like you on the other hand seem to belive in taking handouts and nobody cares about such people. unless we belive we truly deserver it nobody is going to give a damn about us.
I dont mean to say anything personally to you I am just addressing people who seem to disagree with logiclifes well articulated argument about immigration right.
In same vein, driving on road is privillege not a right.
With 'privillege' you have to follow existing rules religiously then if it was a 'right'.
In anycase, what we can only do with existing law is work with law makers and not protest.
Thanks again for nice discussion.

Folks,
I am speaking in my personal capacity here. While I am all for freedom of expression and assembly, I don't think that rallies will in any way help our cause. We have to talk to people and participate in various forums to make them aware of our cause. Standing and protesting is not going to help us, because our voice will still be lost in the din...we need to speak where it matters and be heard where it matters...
RR
I am not saying rallying is the only way, but do remember that participating in rallies will get us some recognition.
CNN will always ignore us thanks to our friend there, but has New York Times ever reported our plight? Has Jim Leherer ever talked about us? The main stream media does not even know us!
We need to do something that catches the attention of the media; just getting more members and more funds may not be enough. We need to write letters to editors of major newspapers like NYTIMES and WASH POST.
I am so glad about the strong reponse to this thread.

I initiated the transfer on 19th and they delivered it today i.e 3 working days after (which is two days less than there norms). Also the rate is 43.35 today as per the calculator and they show a rate of 43.01 for my transfer. ICICI is a known thief. That is how the company is made. Its like "there is a CRIme after every successful company".
Can you believe these ICICI crooks remitted the money on saturday? They gave only 42.90 for saturday. For today its 43.01. Stealing close to 30 to 40 paise per dollar.
These are the same people who send gundas to collect money(debt) from their clients.

Dear Friends,
Got Green cards and Welcome notices for me and my wife .
Surprisingly no uscis e-mail and online status is still "initial review"
Our journey in short :
How long in US : 10+ years
First Labor in 2002 . Changed job in three years before approval of labor
Second Labor in 2004 . Approved in 2007
Filed I140 and 485 - in July 2007
Since then I was enjoying EAD / AP with no complain .
I donate to IV now and then , but for some reason only once (for few days) got access to IV-Donor Forum . But always had a faith that IV is doing good work .
From non-donor IV forums and other forums I noticed that USCIS are transferring leftover Visas to other EB categories . I waited to see some thing coming to EB3 but ......nothing came .
My Lawyer told me that I can port to EB2 and it is a normal a process.
1. New Perm
Filed in Feb and approved in 10 days ( Prep work takes 3 to 4 months before filing )
2. EB2 I140 (TSC)
a. Filed in March - Premium Processing
b. My Lawyer sent interfiling letter along with I140 filing
c. Approved in 7 days (A# and Priority Date retained)
d. Same week got Green Cards and Welcome Notices:) - Super-fast Approval
e. No email and no updates on USCIS website
Not sure about the USCIS and Lawyer fees . My company paid for every thing.
Hope every one get the desired freedom asap and don't have to wait like me for 10+ years
Wish you all the best ......to everyone who is waiting for GC.
Thanks,
Jimytomy
Congrats ..:)

He is not talking about Indians, rather he talks about H1b in general. Since India does not have equivalent social security system, US Govt and Indian Govt did not sign any contracts. Other countries like Canada / UK / AUS have mutual agreement between them and US for transferring the social security paid in US to be transferred to their home country if the alien returns to the home country.
Even Indian Govt (P.Chidambaram) I beleive is working with US Govt to get these SS paid by Indians who have returned back to India. Since the US system and Indian system does not allow with the current rules and regulations to transfer the amount, it is stalled. may be down the line even India would work with US to get these amounts back.
I heard something like this, but not sure: If you decide to move back to India, you can fill out a form and submit to INS/IRS which states that you will never come back to US for any reason. If you do it, they will pay your SS money back. I dont know anymore about this.
I agree. this kind of slander should be fought. Not only SS, but Medicare, Unemployment, and Federal state and city taxes.
Besides getting benefit from taxes, we cannot avail of any of the other benefits (SS, Medicare, Unemployment)
A lawsuit should shut them all up, and also show we are not weak or helpless.
We are not slaves, and unlike illegals do not have to beg for mercy. After suffering the entire immigration process, to hear lies like this should not be taken lying down

whats up with USCIS issing RFE's and stuff for people with PD's so far away..Iam not sure what the RFE is but it makes me wonder what USCIS is doing with files with a PD of 04 that too eb3..
So far what I have seen from various forums, looks like its a standard RFE for most of the cases.
Asking for updated G-325A(Its an updated form little different than what we submitted during july 2007) and EVL.
Just submitted my evidences today to USCIS to the RFE I received on March 19th. Hopefully it may mean that all other evidences are fine...like BC, MC and Medicals....

For the rally, I think some members were looking for poster ideas. I just thought of some :
Legal immigrants deserve 'honesty' (like 'amnesty')
Skilled immigrants' aspirations 'killed'
Green card applicants see Red
I will try to come up with some more. If it's not good, no worries, I wouldn't take it personally:)

Another Iowan from Cedar Falls wrote in support of our review of the H-1B program. He is a computer programmer with a master's degree and over 20 years of work experience in that field. He says: Despite all of my qualifications, in the last four years I have applied to over 3,700 positions and have received no job offers. He believes he is in constant competition with H-1B visa holders.
The unemployment rate is 1.8% which is much lower then unemployable rate. Some persons are unemployable. That is, they will not get a job even if H-1B quota is set to 0.
The ONLY way for such persons to get job is with the legilative fix: every American is entitled to a job!
