There have been conflicting opinions about the new version of Virtual PC (version 7.0)...some say it's a lot faster than before (but still fairly slow), others say it's just as slow. The 20" iMac is a very fast computer, and the 2 GB of RAM will definitely help, but you can't set aside 1 GB for VPC, as VPC only allows you to allocate up to 512 MB for the PC environment.

If you really need performance in PC apps through Virtual PC, you might be out of luck. But if you don't mind giving it a shot, and perhaps willing to deal with some slow graphics, go for it.

If you're buying at an actual Apple Store, then, sadly, you can't upgrade anything for the PBs (except buy very overpriced RAM). If the deal you're getting is a good one, I'd just accept the smaller drive and maybe buy an external.

However, are you sure you can't order online?

The recruitment seminar is really relaxed and you will get through it as long as you be yourself, engage with the recruiters and other people there and ask plenty of questions at the end regarding the job. Don't come over too much as a hardcore Apple fanboy but talk about how much you can't put down your iPhone/iPod. During the group exercises, make sure you try and come over as a good leader but good team player at the same time - make sure that your ideas are part of the main focus but be sure to agree with ideas that you wish you though of. Otherwise, just enjoy it as it's really relaxed and you will spend most of the two and a half hours watching a presentation, videos and doing some group exercises. They get through hundreds of CV's at a time and to get the chance to be considered is a good achievement. Just out of interest, what store are you thinking of joining and what position are you after?

I heard that the Special Red Edition iPhone 3G Pro will be released soon, if so, will it be 16GB or 32GB? Or, it will have both formats? Will you get this special version instead of a black or white one?


I believe the iPhone would never work as a "Product (red)" seeing as all "Product (red)" products are not for profit. Just like you'll never see a (red) Macbook. It's just too valuable to be for charity, sad ... But true.

Looks like there are many MacBooks as well as MacBoko Pro's on sale in the Apple Refurb shop. I'm not saying its proof we're getting new laptops today, but if you're looking to save a bundle and don't mind "previous gen" hardware it looks like a pretty good deal. :)

However, as the Store (well the UK one at least) is now down...

We'll have to wait!

when going from my powerbook keyboard to another PC, i find that the best annd closest feel are those of dell computers. not sure why, but they just working nicely. i also think the feel on the MS internet keyboard is comparable. but certainly my typing needs are different.

I have an iPad v.1 running iOS 4.2 that won't update to iOS 4.3. Says "Your iPad software is up to date". I've got the latest iTunes (10.2.1) and I've even updated my wife's iPad just fine. Thoughts? The Googles hasn't helped.

On top of that the 4.3 IPSW is gone from the wife's install so I can't restore to that.

When I buy RAM for my Macs, I buy Crucial, cheap, reliable and high-quality. Apple uses mostly cheap Korean brand 'Hynix' memory modules in their Macs and they are quite unreliable. Can't speak for OWC though...
